about me

Amanda Clay PowersI’m the Dean of Library Services and Professor at Mississippi University for Women.  I was born and raised in Mississippi, went to Wellesley College, worked as a mystery book editor at Bantam Books, had a stint in international marketing, then decided libraries were my calling and signed up for an MLIS at Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science.  I’ve worked at the MIT Libraries, MSU Libraries and now as the Dean at The W’s Fant Memorial Library. Since I returned to Mississippi (on the day Katrina hit), I’ve gotten involved in some award-winning community theater, run a writers group for local poets and playwrights, and served as the president of the Mississippi Library Association.
